Work experience…it’s one of the most important links between employers and schools/colleges. It provides an opportunity for young people to experience first-hand (and often for the first time) what happens in a working environment.
It is well known that we are currently experiencing a skills shortage, by creating work experience opportunities and giving young people a taste of your industry, you can help address this.
We work with many employers and schools/colleges to source work experience placements for young people in Year 10 and upwards. If you have previously hosted a student at your workplace then you will already be familiar with some of the advantages this can bring.

Providing work experience opportunities for young people is a win win situation for both employers and young people. For employers, work experience is about giving something back to society, and helping our future economy, by doing your bit to help prepare young people for the world of work (Corporate Social Responsibility).
Offering quality and beneficial work experience can also help attract a younger workforce. If your work experience student is suitable you could offer a permanent role such as an apprenticeship or part time roles. Developing and motivating members of staff with the responsibility of managing the student gives employees opportunities to show and develop leadership qualities.
Many young people have an idea of what they want to ‘go’ into as a future career but they have no real hands on experience, employers can help shape and inspire youngster’s ambitions, giving them an opportunity to develop their soft skills, gain an awareness of the working environment and learn about what is expected of employees in the workplace.
